30年前您为什么选择来到广州？

Why did you come to Guangzhou 30 years ago?

Well it's a lot a very long story.I met a beautiful young lady.

And she talked to me about going to China for investment.

At that time I was focused on Latin America,and knew nothing about China.She spent one year to convince me to consider China.I put a team together and came here in1991.And began to look around.I realized that there was an industrial revolution,Happening in China at that time,I ended up investing in some really major projects Making a lot of money.It is a love story that turned out to be a very good investment.

How would you describe Guangzhou as a city?

How do you evaluate the Greater Bay Area?

It offers the Very good legal system in Hong Kong.Macau offers some of the best entertainment areas.Dongguan for example offers high tech manufacturing.Shenzhen offers some of the best universities.PhD and post PhD graduates.Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center.Some of the best postgraduate programs are in Shenzhen.And collectively they represent the future of China.

How many companies in your chamber of Commerce?

We represent more than 2300 members in South China which account for about 40% of our US.China business trade and investment.So that makes us a big powerhouse.More than 27 percent of the imports from the United States Come through Guangzhou city.So we are sitting at a location.That's really important to us.At the same time it's very very important to China. Our companies are profitable Vast majority of our companies Continue to make a profit in China.Especially in Guangzhou Vast majority of our companies are reinvesting.For example we expect a 76% of members of our companies will have reinvested in South China over 14 billion US dollars.And I do believe that number is going to increase.

trade exchanges between China and the USA?

Well over the years Canton Fair has been.Extremely important In promoting friendship between the US and China.When people come to visit.The Canton Fair is all.They also experience Chinese culture They get to meet you know the very nice Chinese people.They get to build relationship and of course.The relationship at that point Goes far beyond just purchasing at the Canton Fair.And it becomes long lasting and a lot of our investments have happened.

But realize that Guangzhou City China Greater Bay Area and South China offer much more opportunities.Than what's available at the Canton Fair.
